A. B. Simpson was an author, hymn writer, conference speaker, evangelist to the urban masses of New York City, and a missionary statesman. He founded The Christian and Missionary Alliance and Nyack College.
The following is from his book Wholly Sanctified:
"True service for God is not only to do our work as Christ did it, but to do it in the very life and strength of Christ.
"This is the meaning of the promise, 'He that believes on me, the works that I do will he do also.' That is, he will work in partnership with me, we doing the same works together.
"This is the same thought as Paul expresses in Ephesians. 'We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before prepared that we should walk in them.' Our very works are prepared for us, and inspired in us by the indwelling Christ.
"O, how it fills the heart with love and dispels our fear to know that in all our service for Him, He is with us and in us, and as He is so are we also in this world in all our work for Him."
