How to Abide in the Kingdom

The following is from J. Rufus Moseley as recorded in the book Ineffable Union With Christ:  Living in the Kingdom (Selected Writings of J. Rufus Moseley, 1927-1937) compiled and edited by Gregory S. Camp:

  1.  Live in love.  Nothing that is not love can abide in Christ and in the Kingdom of God.
  2. Meet all evil with good.
  3. Prize Christ and the Kingdom above all else.  Choose to think of Him in preference to everything else.  As you do this your heart and mind will be kept centered on Him, and you will be kept in His peace, rest and joy.
  4. Watch and pray without ceasing.  Watch the desires and the thoughts and the imaginations as well as the words and deeds.  Reject every suggestion that leads out of love and kindness and peace, out of Christ and out of His Kingdom.
  5. Choose not to come out, but choose to abide forever.
  6. Live in perpetual thanksgiving and never complain of anything that the Lord permits to come to you.
  7. Ask to go ever deeper and deeper in Jesus and in His love, peace, rest and joy.
  8. Ask to be led by the Spirit in everything.  Just as the Spirit convicts of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment, and leads to Christ and reveals and glorifies Him and makes us His habitation, so the Spirit also leads us into Christ and keeps us in Christ and is ever seeking to lead us deeper and deeper in Him.

"There are other secrets of the Kingdom, but as we are led by the Spirit we will be guided into all of them.  One who has the laws, nature, and will of God written in his inmost parts is led by the Spirit.  He is brought into the place where he needs no man to teach him.  When this has been achieved in all of the children of God, and it is to be achieved in all of them from the least to the greatest, the whole earth will become filled with a knowledge and love and peace and glory of the Lord."
