The Way is Just Right

The following is from J. Rufus Moseley as recorded in the book Ineffable Union With Christ:  Living in the Kingdom (Selected Writings of J. Rufus Moseley, 1927-1937) compiled and edited by Gregory S. Camp:

"The way is just right.  It is narrow enough to keep out everything that if you carried it along would keep any place from being heaven, and it is just wide enough to admit everything that is good and blessed.  The very Way keeps out all that has evil in it and admits all that leads to Heaven and that is good enough to be in Heaven.

". . . When we see what we need and what everybody needs is this perfect light, life, and love and that union with the Lord makes this life and love not only possible, but necessary and inevitable, there is nothing left for us but to seek perfect union with Him and to be His incarnations and channels.  In perfect light and love there is nothing to differ about or divide over.  Here all who see the light and life are one.

". . .  Everything we do or give in love and joy becomes an eternal possession.  But it has to be in love and joy, and when we do an act of real charity we must not tell it in order to get glory for it.  The true way is to do it in love and joy and not let the one hand know what the other is doing.  When people go to giving in this manner they will get so much joy out of it that they will have to put on the brakes rather heavily to keep from giving everything they have.

"John Wesley's rule and advice 'make all you can, save all you can, and give all you can,' is splendid.  If it had been practiced it would have prevented the Depression.  It would quickly relieve it and do away with future depressions.

"I am frequently asked what the times in which we live mean, and the only answer I am sure of is that it is going to be better and better in Christ and in the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, and worse and worse on the outside.

"The world is in its present trouble because it has put self and mammon first, instead of putting the Kingdom of God and being upright before Him and goodness, love, and brotherhood first.  As soon as we turn around in repentance as did the Prodigal Son, we will be led away from the swine feeding to the Father's House.

"If we could be happy away from God and God's best for us, we might stay away.  But since nothing can satisfy us but God and God's best for us, we are led on to this not only by the drawings of God's love, but also His chastisements.  He made it so that everything works together for our good.  When we co-work with Him with gladness and joy, we are led on without being chastised."
