The Indwelling Holy Spirit and Prayer

The following is from J. Rufus Moseley as recorded in the book Ineffable Union With Christ:  Living in the Kingdom (Selected Writings of J. Rufus Moseley, 1927-1937) compiled and edited by Gregory S. Camp:

"[S . D. Gordon] says often times the prayer that he is led to pray is after this manner:  'Holy Spirit, be praying in me the things that the Father wants done.  Father, what the Spirit within me is praying, that is my prayer in Jesus' name.'

"The Spirit will lead you to pray and just what to pray for, and the prayer will always be after the manner of the prayer that the Lord [Jesus] taught His first disciples to pray.  The heart of this prayer is that the Father's will be done everywhere on earth as it is done in Heaven, and to deliver us and the whole of creation from the influence of and the yielding to the evil one.  The whole creation is to be brought out of the hands of the enemy into the Kingdom of God.

"Prayer is joining hands with God to bring this about.  As Gordon says, while the Holy Spirit is the inlet of God's power and of Christ in our lives, that the Holy Ghost comes within us to do in us what Christ has done for us.  There are these outlets for God's power:   A good and holy life that radiates God and Godliness and health and everything blessed; the spoken word that enables us to speak God's word and for God to speak His words through us; all kinds of loving services and ministries; the right use of money; the prayer of communion, petition and intercession.

"Fine as all the others are, it is by prayer under the guidance of the Holy Spirit that we must have the most world-wide and powerful outlook for the co-working of God.  The prayer of faith in God's will links us with God's omnipotence and is the earth side for the accomplishment of what God longs to accomplish."
